instabox was born thanks to Covid.
In 2020 the world stood still — and that was our chance. Time, at last, to ask a simple question: why were so many photobooths so disappointing?
The photobooths nobody should pay for
The answer was everywhere. A box with a hole in it. A threaded rod holding the flash. A rough cut-out for the screen, cables hanging out of the back, the printer simply standing next to it — and, for half the evening, out of order.
Many took their photos with the camera of an iPad. However clever the software gets, you can’t beat physics with a tiny sensor.
And at one event, a delivered photobooth failed a guest. His skin was darker than his colleagues’, and the booth’s light and camera simply weren’t made for him: he barely appeared in his own photo. Nobody said a word — but it decided what instabox would be. A photobooth has to work for every guest, or it doesn’t work.
Hundreds of hours of drawing — and our own CNC to build them
So we started from a blank page. Every booth was drawn in CAD, over hundreds of hours, until each detail was right: one for warm rooms with character, one for clean, modern spaces — and no technical compromise inside either.
When no workshop could build them the way they were drawn, we built the machine that could: our own CNC. Every instabox booth has been made on it since, here in Luxembourg.

We don’t ask for money before the event. We invoice afterwards, once you’re happy — because we believe in what we do. Everything on board comes double, so a fault is fixed on the spot; not a single event has been cancelled.
